All was great until the point that my medicine had a National shortage. Unfortunately they didn’t have enough policies on place to protect and warn us on time and they didn’t give the titration team a guidance to try and find us alternative medication. As my prescriber was more than good and always went the extra mile to answer my questions and worries even during weekend, I know that is a problem of the clinic, not taking very seriously their duty of care.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the current national shortages of ADHD medications Elvanse and Atomoxetine. Although we completely understand your frustration, this is unfortunately a situation that is completely outside our control because we do not ourselves receive any warning. Despite the inconvenience caused, we have plans in place to protect our patients and are in the process of contacting those who are affected. We are in direct contact with both wholesale suppliers and the manufacturers regarding the supply issues with these meds so that we can keep our patients updated, and would advise you to stay in regular contact with your prescriber to keep informed.

I was referred to PUK for both Autism and ADHD. The initial information gathering they did seemed fairly thorough, if slightly repetitive in places. There were forms and questionnaires for both me and family members, asking for details of various aspects of my life and childhood development. The consultation appointments I had for both referrals were completed by the same psychiatrist doctor. He made me feel at ease, explained the different types of questions that would be asked, and how they related to the diagnostic criteria before beginning. This helped me understand why certain things would be asked, and made me feel as though I would be able to share my experiences that would be relevant. In the appointments it was checked that I was in a safe environment to give open and honest answers. The discussions that we had were quite in-depth, and both appointments ended up taking about 3 hours each. Being referred for both things, and having the same doctor for both meant I was able to reference questions and answers from the previous session, but also gave room to discuss the interplay of symptoms, and where various overlaps with potential explanations occurred. Though I understand that this may not be the case for others who have multiple referrals, as you may get different doctors for each. At the end of both appointment he recapped the different criteria and how applicable each was to my answers in the call and from the pre-appointment forms. I was also given the opportunity to question this, and provide additional comments. Shortly after each appointment I received a copy pf the letter sent to my GP outlining the results, with various recommendations for further help and information. The diagnoses confirmed both ADHD and autism. As part of the ADHD referral, PUK provided services for finding a medication plan that worked for me. They use different staff for diagnosis and medication titration. The initial prescriber that was assigned to me was the only significant negative aspect, for me, with PUK's process. After some frustration at this one individuals poorer communication and continuous misunderstandings that I could not resolve with them, I wrote to and asked the administrative staff to assign a new prescriber. The administrative staff member who responded arranged a video call to go through any issues that I had and assured me that they would be addressed, and where appropriate, fed back to management for consideration. I was then assigned a new prescriber. This new person was back at the excellent level of communication and explained every aspect of what was happening and why that I had come to expect from my time talking to my diagnostic psychologist. They sent documentation about the medication and any potential issues or dangers with others I was already on. I feel that PUK took a good level of precaution and appropriateness to their use of stimulate medications, taking into account other medications I required and family medical history. (I wish I didn't have to say when a medical service does this well, but I know from experience that some other places do not consider these things as much as they should) After multiple medicine reviews, a few changes of dosage both up and down, and several weeks of monitoring, we have arrived at a treatment plan that appears to be helping with my symptoms with minimised negative side effects. (Part of the time and efficacy of this is due to my circumstances, and other health considerations. I know this will vary from person to person) As someone who struggles with face-to-face appointments, or telephone only calls, I am very glad that that they provide text based messaging options and video calls. PUK's waiting times have grown since I was referred, but are still lower than many other services.

Thank you for leaving such a detailed review. This level of feedback is incredibly useful, both to ourselves (to identify any areas for improvement), but also to those who may be researching our service and are unsure about what to expect. I have noted the concerns you raised at the start of your titration, but it sounds as though your issues were quickly dealt with and you were able to progress smoothly after this with finding an effective treatment plan. It is really good to hear that your overall experience of our service has been so positive and that you have found it easy to work with our patient portal.

this service is highly dependant on who you get as your team. I had a wonderful titration nurse when I first was assessed, he really made the whole thing worth it and less stressful. however I've not had great luck with the psychiatrists. My first one made some transphobic comments, and my second one said that i just sounded 'overstimulated' when I was discussing high HR and BP when taking my medication, as well as worsened anxiety symptoms. some of the admin staff send you reminders to send documents without checking if you actually sent them already or not, so can make you have a huge panic about whether you DID send them (really great customer care when you have ADHD and are there FOR ADHD) and often not fully answering questions you have. its faster than the NHS a lot of the time via right to choose, but the actual care is not that different to NHS care. its just nice to not have to physically be at an appointment and you can do it all virtually.

I chose Psychiatry UK vis right-to-choose through my GP. Everyone I dealt with was extremely professional and yet friendly at the same time (admin staff, Psychiatrist, and Titration specialist). During my on-line consultation via zoom, the psychiatrist soon put me at ease. Overall, I spent the most time communicating with my titration expert (via portal messages) and she always responded really quickly and was always understanding and helpful, even when my titration took longer than most. The 3rd medication we tried was the fantastic one for me. Thank you to all concerned.

Really great clinic! Every person I interacted with was extremely helpful, knowledgable, and kind. From my first appointment with dr Muhammad Asif, admin team, to my prescriber dr Oscar Flamank, I felt listened to, cared for, and genuinely looked after. 100 recommend!

I chose Psychiatry UK via the Right-to-Choose scheme as the wait time for my local health service was up to more than 15 months. Within 3 months I got my assessment and was diagnosed with combined type ADHD. I began titration 5 months later and worked alongside my prescriber to find a dose that suited me. My concerns and difficulties were always listened to and discussed with empathy. In all my interactions with Psychiatry UK, I felt like a person and not "just another number". Overall I had a very great experience with Psychiatry UK. The staff are patient, and kind and seem to care very much about helping to find what works for the individual rather than just giving out a prescription.

I choose psychiatry uk via the Right to choose scheme through my GP surgery, the wait time want to bad 5 months, I was diagnosed with ADHD combined type, waited another 7 months to start medication then worked alongside my prescriber to get the right dose that suited me and my busy lifestyle, I would definitely 100% recommend psychiatry UK whether if your paying for your treatment or going through the NHS it was all worth the wait.

The nurse I had was totally amazing, was extremely nice when my titration period was going over the timespan and was very reassuring whenever I had any queries and had timely responses. My consultant was equally nice and always had my care first. :) Thank you.
